A scheme under the Government of Kerala and animal husbandry department fetches Rs 25,000. The biggest advantage is that it doesn’t have to be repaid. 25,000 rupees is available as assistance to buy 5 female sheep and 1 goat of malabarian species ranging in age from 4 months to six months. Currently goat breeders and those who are newly entering the start up can be a part of this scheme.

The preference for this scheme among various categories are 30 % for women, 10 % SC/ST category and remaining 60 %  general category . Under this scheme, we have to pay for the entire cost of the lamb’s nest ourselves. It should be a sheep cage at least 100 square feet in size.
