As we know, in our country Aadhaar card is used as an important document. Every individuals aadhar card is linked with a mobile number. Many of us use multiple SIM cards. For taking a new sim, the document required is aadhaar card. Let us discuss how to know number of SIM cards have been taken in a person’s name and thus take action against SIM cards if number of sim cards are beyond a certain limit. Currently, all important details such as our phone number, bank account number and PAN card number has been registered using the Aadhaar number.
In the past, to take a SIM card using an adhar card, people used to go to any telecom shop and fill out a form provided and submit it along with a photo. The SIM could be activated only after the form was submitted to the Telecom Department. It may take a week to activate a SIM card . But now with the Aadhaar biometric system, the people can easily get a SIM card and start using it as an activated. The same thing applies with open a bank account also.
By using this system, it is very easy to check the number of SIMs taken with an Aadhaar card. The government has presented a portal to the users which was launched by the Union Ministry of Telecom for this purpose. According to the Union Ministry of Telecom, the maximum number of SIM card that a person can take for personal use is 9. If the number of sim card you are using is more than nine SIM cards are being used, a notice will be issued. The number of SIM cards that a person can use in 2018 was 18. 09 are for personal use and the 09 for electronic gadgets. These are known as e-sim.
Centre has created a portal named Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) to find out how many SIMs are active on your Aadhaar number. Please follow the below steps to check it.
- Visit the official website “https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/“
- Enter your mobile number
- Click on request OTP
- Enter the OTP that you’ve received on your mobile number
- All the phone numbers linked with your Aadhaar card will be shown
- If any of the number is not taken or using by you, an option of report and block it is available.
