In order to achieve the goal of extreme poverty alleviation, kerala govt has decided to come up with a “smart kitchen” scheme for housewives. For this new project, The Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) may start a chit fund scheme, meant to ease the burden on housewives. Ensure the needed home appliances in every household of the state is the main aim of this scheme.
There will be a facility for women to pay for the appliances in instalments over a period of few years. Various instalment packages would be prepared for this scheme. In the 2021 the LDF election manifesto The ‘Smart Kitchen’ project was promised. The scheme was pointed in the previous State budget also. with this project, government is looking to make Kerala the first State to have washing machines, grinders and refrigerators in all households, in that order.
The interest on loans would be divided into three, where only one-third of the amount to be paid by women, where as the remaining amount would be paid by the local body and government. Those who are going to apply for this project through Kudumbashree may get mortgage-free loans. KSFE Chairman Philipose Thomas expressed his firm’s willingness to grant the loans for this project. Chief Minister of the state has Appointed the related team to prepare a project report.
